Hertsmere Council Social Housing
Borehamwood, Hertsfordshire
Grayling Thomas Architects secured planning consent for two new affordable homes on the site of a disused playground. These homes are designed to provide short-let emergency accommodation for Hertsmere Council tenants. The site is located at the end of a terrace of existing private houses and adjacent to an industrial unit.
Built to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 standards, the houses are highly insulated and airtight. They feature a timber frame structure clad in face brickwork, topped with a traditional pitched tiled roof.
Key Features:
- Brownfield Site: Efficient use of previously developed land.
- Daylight Tubes: Maximising natural light within the homes.
- Solar PV Cells: Enhancing energy efficiency and sustainability.
This project exemplifies our commitment to creating sustainable, high-quality housing solutions that meet the urgent needs of local communities while respecting the existing urban fabric.
